"Guidalberto"
Tenuta San Guido 2004
| The Weather conditions of the year 2004 were characterized by a very sunny but not particularly hot summer, unlike in 2003. The vines did not suffer drought during summer, thanks to a good amount of rain during spring. The grapes reached full maturity in the first ten days of September. The whole harvest took place during sunny days. Guidalberto is a blend of 45% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Sangiovese. The grapes are accurately selected before being stripped
and then vinified in a new cellar purposely built at Tenuta San Guido,
in Localitá Vecchio Frantoio. |

Fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless-steal vats. Maceration lasted for 17 days for Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and 14 days for Sangiovese. The wine was then aged for 14 months in French and American oak “barriques”, one third of which being new ones.
